This week I want to show my Town , Fort Lauderdale . Talking about Gay city Fort Lauderdale has the biggest percent of gay men per capita of any city in USA , Said the census in 2010 .
Trust me I travel alot and I live in San Francisco and Fort Lauderdale still has way more gay men in this city then any other place .
The Area does not have much History , since it was Populated by natives the seminoles and 1836 the only 70 resident where attack and move to Miami and Key West so the area always been very under developed till just 20 years ago in late 1800 Mr. Stranahan funded the Fort Lauderdale area . in 1915 it was created the Broward County but it was not till 1950 when the population grew to 150,000 it was like this till 2000 the the Boat industry grew in the Area do to the many Rivers the City its call the "Venice of USA " the population Grew after all the Boats companies started to open and we got 200 marinas now the population of over 1,800,000 in the city that was only 150,000 20 years ago oh and remember that 18% of the population they say its gay wow .
. and Its mostly gay yea , lol . The County has many areas the Down town las Olas Blv , the Fort Lauderdale Beach that where most of the gay Hotels are , Victoria park , Ponsetia , Middle river thats where I live , and its just south of WIlton manor the gay area founded in 1947 and its mostly Gay population in a little 3 miles Island , thats why its call the Island city . Im just 2 blocks away from the river and wilton manor , the Bridge its not even 20 feet long but it makes a difference , my area its more of the Leather bear population , Vs Wilton Manor its more of the Old men , Girly , lol some people are going to kill me lol . but its true , there is Oakland Park just north of wilton manor and its the upcoming area for gay men . Today Fort lauderdale its not only a Gay Meca , but for anyone that has Boats and 350,000 Spring Break Collage students that come to visit and all the Cruise ships that are coming out of this area , it have become a new Tourist destination in Florida . Wilton Drive we just call it the Drive , and During Halloween and gay pride its Close and it becomes a Great Fair for the Gay community .
The city has a Few cool Places to visit :
Bonnet house , was build in 1895 by a Lawyer Taylor Birch from Chicago for his daughter wedding , Helen . Today its a Museum and it can be rented for Party's .
The Museum of Discovery and Science build in 1992 its in Down town Fort lauderdale .
The Stranahan House build by the Founder of Fort lauderdale was build in 1902 as town hall and Post office in 1905 was his House and today its a museum .
Osborne Reef its a artificial reef created by the US Navy in 1960 with 700,000 Tires , it was a way to use all this car tires and to boom the fish in the area , Thanks to that there is a great fishing area in Fort lauderdale , that help the Boating industry .
Las Olas BLV its another tour area its in Down Town Fort lauderdale and its in front of the river , during Christmas time they do the Biggest Boat Parade in Christmas all the boats with Lights and music and different Christmas Motives , its another great thing to see in the area .
The gay area like I mention has many gay Bars from latin Night to Leather bars and Leather hotels , to Bars for Cowboys and the Older crowd , Gym , Shops and tons of restaurants but not in the Gay area since in 5 block we got 7 Thai restaurants so not my thing but around the gay area there its tons of great restaurants , French , Greek , German , Spanish , Cuban ,and Brazilian restaurants . sorry but its true the restaurants in the Drive they are not great . I got to Mention the Farmers market in Wilton Drive next to the city Hall where I sell my Baking products on the weekend lol . and the area has sex shops clothing stores and there own police that sucks big time , lol I never been in a Area that the speed limit in the main avenue its 20 miles per hour every where ales its 35 or 40 . and they give tons of tickets for nothing lol , so be care full when you drive in this area . all the Bars have a Trolley service that takes you free from bar to bar and to the beach area where all the hotels are so use this its great to take the trolley after a night of drinking . The Gay Beach its Sebastian Beach , but I prefer the Nude beach in Miami , its less pretentious then Sebastian beach , and the Fort lauderdale Beach has many parks in the area great for Biking .There is not really a Crusing spot since the entire city its gay so there is men every where lol . For Sober the Florida AA and CMA has the Biggest convention in the USA in Fort Lauderdale and Miami , and the Gay Leather Community its getting bigger and bigger every day with the Leather Masquerade in November and many other Events that they do . So Forget about Miami come to Fort Lauderdale and then to Key West lol and relax .

Fort lauderdale es uno de los destinos mas importantes para la comunidad gay . siendo esta la ciudad con la mayor poblacion gay en USA per capita . si asi como lo oyen , y yo que vivi en Puerto Rico que hay mucho maricon y bugarones , y en San Francisco pero fort Lauderdale tiene mucho mas Hombre Gay que ninguna ciudad .
La historia del area no es mucha pues siempre estubo poblada por nativos y en 1800 solo hubo unos 70 residentes que fueron atacados por los Seminolas , y luego se mudaron a Key west y Miami , el area cmenso a poblar a fin the 1800 cuando Mr Stranahan fundo la ciudad de Fort lauderdale y trajo el tren al area , su casa que fue la alcaldia , correo y su hogar todavia esta en el centro cmo museo . La ciudad se conoce como "La Venecia de USA " debido a la cantidad de rios y canales en el area . 1915 se creo el La zona de Broward , la cual fort Lauderdale es parte de esta Zona , miami es Dade County Fort Lauderdale es Broward county . en 1950 la poblacion era de 150,000 y no fue hasta el 2000 que la industria de Botes crecio y la poblacion crecio a 1,8000,000 osea que es una Ciudad que ha crecido solo en 20 anos recuerden que 18 % de la poblacion es Gay . 1947 se fundo el area de Wilton manor que es una isla de 3 millas que se conecta por Puentes y esta es la zona Gay tiene la mayor poblacion gay en USA . al sur esta el area del Middle River que es donde yo vivo , solo un puente de 20 pies y 2 calles y estoy en la zona gay , un poco mas al sur como 10 minutos mas esta el Centro de la ciudad con muchos de los edificios altos , al este la Playa que es donde estan la mayoria de los Hoteles gay , y al norte de Wilton manor esta el area de Oakland park que es el area que esta creciendo con poblacion gay . Fort lauderdale aparte de todos los botes , tiene muchos cruseros y en la primavera resivimos mas de 350,000 estudiantes que vienen a vacacionar al area .
La zona Gay esta dividida , Wilton manor que es la pequena isla donde estan la mayoria de los Bares es mayormente Viejos y Muchachitos Jovenes , es un area un poco mas Pertenciosos que las demas areas , El Middle River que es donde yo vivo esta la mayoria de la Poblacion de osos y Hombres que les gusta el Leather , y por esto estan las barras y tiendas leather en esta area .
en WIlton Manor hay muchas tiendas gay de ropa , tiendas de sexo , barras para todos los Gustos , desde latinos hasta Vaqueros , y para las lesbianas , los restaurantes del area no son muy buenos hay como 2 que todos van pero en 5 calles hay mas de 7 restaurantes Thailandeses , como a mi no me gusta no voy a ninguno y no se ni por que hace falta tanto restaurantes de los mismo pero en las areas alrededor de Wilton manor especialmente el area de Oakland park tiene restaurantes Espanoles ,griegos , frances , Aleman , Brazilero y cubano . . conducir en esta area gay es un peo pues los Policias siempre dan multas altas y la velocidad es bien baja de 15 a 20 millas por hora cuando avenidas principales en otras area es 30 a 45 millas por hora asi que pueden ver la differencia , si no quieren conducir los bares y discotecas offrecen transpostacion con un trolley que va desde la playa donde estan los hoteles , hasta el Area gay y el trolley pasa por todas las barras y discotecas y es gratis asi que no tienen que conducir borachos .
En Fort lauderdale esta la Playa Gay Sebastian Beach , que es un poco pretenciosa la gente , a mi me gusta mas la playa nudista pero esta en miami . Fort lauderdale Tambien tiene una de las Poblaciones mas grandes de Hombres que les Gusta el Cuero o Leather , hay varios Partys atravez del ano el mas importante es la Fiesta de mascaras de cuero en Noviembre , y La comunidad de Sobrios tambien es una de las mas grandes en USA . asi que si no bebes o usas drogas aqui en fort lauderdale veras muchos Hombres Gay que pertenecen a AA y CMA y otros grupos que son sobros .
En Wilton Manor esta el Mercado alado de la alcaldia hay consiguen Frutas , sopas y flores y por supuesto aveces me veran a mi vendiendo Bizcochos Galletas y pan de mu Negocio Blue Cakes asi que otro lugar para ir lol .
Fort Lauderdale tiene de todo para todos asi que Olvidensen de miami y vengan a Fort Lauderdale .lol
Atracciones :
La Casa Bonnet es un Museo que tambien se usas para fiestas fue construido en 1895 por un abogado que le regalo esta casa a su hija como regalo de bodas . hoy dia es una de las casa mas visitadas de Fort lauderdale .
El Museo de Descubrimiento y ciencia creado en 1992 esta en el centro de la ciudad .
1960 el arecife Osborne , es uno de los arecifes artificiales mas grandes que hay , lo hiso el Army de USA en 1960 para deshacerce de 700.000 llantas de carros y de esta forma tambien incrementar la poblacion de peces en el area , como fort lauderdale tiene mas botes que carros pues funciono y hoy dia este arrecife artificial a creado una gran poblacion de peces para el deporte de la pesca .
LKa casa Stranahan del fundador dde Fort lauderdale construida en 1902 fue la primera alcaldia y correo del area y en 1905 fue su casa , hoy dia es un museo .
El centro esta Las Olas BLv que es un paseo frente al rio y en navidad hacen la parada de navidad de Botes mas grande en el mundo dozenas de Botes de todos los tamanos con Luces musica y diferentes actividades se leena toda la noche atravez de todo el Rio .
